Have Your Say: Proposed Dog Restriction Area – Asche
Asche is a newly established suburb within the Greater Holtze development and is not yet occupied. The area will comprise approximately 544 residential lots (average size approximately 450m²), featuring low–medium and medium density zoning and interconnected community parks as well as commercial areas proposed for the Territory Reserve parcel.
What is being proposed?
Council is proposing to declare Asche a Dog Restriction Area under Section 23 of the Litchfield Council (Dog Management) By-Laws 2017.
If declared, the restriction would limit all properties in Asche to a maximum of two (2) dogs, unless a license is granted by Council.
Why is this being proposed?
Asche is a high-density residential area. Introducing the restriction prior to occupation aims to proactively support community wellbeing by:
- Reducing the risk of excessive barking and noise complaints
- Minimising odour and waste concerns
- Preventing dog overcrowding and promoting animal welfare
- Providing clear expectations for future residents.
Implementing the restriction before properties are occupied will avoid retrospective enforcement issues.
