The Albanese Government continues to deliver critical road upgrades for communities in Lingiari under the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP).
$1,280,000 million will help fund the upgrade a section of the Thorngate Road in the Holtze area which lies in the Litchfield Council local government area.
This project will upgrade a section of Thorngate Road, realigning a section of the road which is curved for a distance of 400m. The scope includes road widening, pavement upgrades and installation of safety barriers. Thorngate Road connects Campbell Road with the Stewart Highway near Yarrawonga, Palmerston. The road has significant levels of heavy vehicle usage as it services Robertson Barracks, Holtze industrial area and Thorak Cemetery.
This is part of a more than $107 million investment for 42 projects nationwide under the latest funding tranche. This includes more than $91 million earmarked for projects in regional Australia.
The SLRIP is one of the ways the Albanese Government is supporting local government with the increasing cost of road upgrades and repairs.
With more than $200 million available each year, the program is part of the Albanese Government’s commitment to strengthen investment and support the delivery of safer and more productive roads across Australia.
