Litchfield Council is providing support for households and businesses as part of the COVID-19 response.

Council reviewed the existing policy for rates concessions to allow for applications for hardship caused by the current public health emergency that is simpler, quicker and will see ease of financial pressure on ratepayers that require assistance.

The changes are:

  • All ratepayers can apply, not only owner occupied residential
  • Temporary hardship due to public health emergency with simple two-page application
  • Improved response time to applications
  • Upon application, ratepayers can request write off of penalty interest, deferral of rates, freezing penalty interest or rates waiver

Council encourages any ratepayer that has experienced financial hardship due to COVID - 19 to contact council to have a discussion about the available support options.
