Flood Affected Residents

Council has introduced a temporary measure to help residents in the South Ward of the Litchfield Municipality who have been impacted by recent flooding.

From Thursday, 12 March to Sunday, 12 April 2026, flood-affected residents can dispose of the following items free of charge at the Berry Springs Waste Transfer Station:

•  Mattresses
•  Fridges and freezers
•  Air conditioners

Residents are also reminded that non-gassed appliances, such as washing machines and ovens, can already be disposed of at the Berry Springs facility free of charge.

If you have larger loads, these can be taken to the Humpty Doo Waste Transfer Station, where the infrastructure is better suited to handling higher volumes of waste.

Please ensure fridges and freezers are emptied of food (into the general waste bin) before being dropped off for recycling.

Council appreciates that this has been a challenging time for many residents and hopes this small measure helps make the clean-up process a little easier.
