Waste Disposal

Litchfield Council operates three Waste Transfer Stations, the transfer stations are sites used for the seperation and temporary storage of waste prior to landfilling. The Waste Transfer Stations offer a number of opportunities to recycle material and seperating materials at home will make your visit to the Waste Transfer Station efficient and maximise recycling. Material that isn't recycled is placed into large bins for transportation to the Shoal Bay Landfill site. At Humpty Doo, a compactor is on site to maximise the amount of waste within a bin which minimises the trips for trucks.

Litchfield Council staff manage access to the transfer stations and apply the necessary charges.
