2017/18 Reseal Program

Works commenced Monday 30 October 2017 to address Shoulder drop off issues before resealing roads. Below is the estimated order of works and timeframe from the contractor for completion and is subject to weather:

Works are expected to commence on the $1.5m Road Reseal Program on Monday 6 November 2017. Below is the estimated order of works from the contractor for completion and is subject to weather:

Working in the following order:

  2. Bastin Road, Mahaffey Road, Henning Road, Langton Road, Jarrold Place and Sandpiper Grove

  3. Alphatonio Road, Beard Road, Ewart Road and Boyd Court

  4. Lowther Road, Horne Road and Bees Creek Road

  5. Batu Road, Dominick Road, Sunter Road and Marjerrison Drive

  6. Strangways Road and Krichauff Road
  7. Andrews Road, Garganey Court, Paddy Court, Trippe (North) Road and Pioneer Drive

  8. Livingstone Road

  9. Mira Road (Southport)

  10. Peacock Road

  11. Daniel Road and Golding Road

Traffic management controls will be in place at all time, please drive carefully and obey all road works signage.

Roads under jurisdiction of the NT Government within the Litchfield Municipality are:

  • Stuart Highway
  • Arnhem Highway
  • Anzac Parade
  • Channel Island
  • Road Cox Peninsula Road
  • Darwin River Road
  • Gunn Point Road
  • Howard Springs Road
  • Jenkins Road

These roads are NOT maintained by Litchfield Council. NT Government roads (listed above) please report through the NT Government Department of Infrastructure website. Radford Road is maintained by Palmerston City Council.

Works Permit - works within road or road reserves

Where works are to be carried out within (or affecting) an existing road reserve, land owned or under the control of Council, a Works Permit is to be obtained.

Invitation for Public Comment

Road Closure Road Reserve Adjacent Stuart Hwy Between Thorak Road and McMillans Rd, Knuckey Lagoon

Council has received request from the abutting owner to close the above mentioned sections of road reserve.  Council at its meeting on the 15 June 2016 resolved to advertise its intention to close this section of unformed road.  Council invite submissions from any person who may object to this proposal.  Submissions will be received until 9 September 2016 and can be made to Council by email council@litchfield.nt.gov.au or mailing to PO Box 446 HUMPTY DOO NT 0836

Proposed Road Opening Through Freds Pass Reserve

Council is proposing to formally open a road over a small portion of vacant Crown land and a small portion of land owned by Power and Water Corporation in order to facilitate formalisation of the existing road through Freds Pass Reserve.   The road opening process will consolidate these portions of land wherein the existing formed road lies with the existing road reserve in the locality. 

The opening of a new road reserve is required to be publicly exhibited in accordance with the Local Government Act. This application is open for public comment through 24 October 2016.  Comments can be made to Council by emailing council@litchfield.nt.gov.au or calling 08 8983 0600.
