Rural Recreational Activities
Litchfield Municipality offers many diverse equestrian activities such as Polocrosse, Pony Club, show jumping, dressage, western pleasure riding, camp drafting and other rodeo events.
Pig and waterfowl hunting are sports also enjoyed by local residents and city visitors, as a recreational activity within the Litchfield Municipality. Harrison Dam Conservation Reserve, Howard Springs Hunting Reserve, Lambells Lagoon Conservation Reserve and Shoal Bay Coastal Reserve are within the Litchfield Municipality.
Hunting is currently regulated by The Department of Natural Resources, Environment, The Arts and Sport. Permits to hunt are available through Parks and Wildlife , who can be contacted on 8999 4486 or email: pwpermits.nreta@nt.gov.au
Permits to hunt pigs on designated crown land can also be obtained from the Department of Planning and Infrastructure who can be contacted by phone on 8999 7067.
